Day Surgeries and Day Procedure Centres are required to have an infection Prevention and Control program in place that ensures the health and well-being of patients, staff and visitors. The program should meet the requirements in National guidelines, applicable Australian Standards and the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.

• annual updates to infection prevention and control management plan;
• two separate site visits [one for delivery of up to one hour, face-to-face infection control in-service session and the other for the annual AS/NZ4187 compliance audit];
• unlimited episodes of infection control consultancy advice; and
• an annual review of existing infection control policies and procedures.
